Patricia Alejandro, Consultant

Patricia Alejandro is an attorney and lecturer at the University of Miami School of Law, where she teaches courses on business law. Prior to teaching at the University of Miami, Patricia taught corporations and mergers and acquisitions at Northeastern University School of Law. Patricia was also a clinical instructor at the Transactional Law Clinics (TLC) of Harvard Law School, where she headed the Community Enterprise Project. At TLC, Patricia worked closely with community organizations, small businesses and not-for-profits, providing legal assistance with formation and governance, contracts, intellectual property, and other legal matters and leading legal educational workshops for community groups. Prior to joining TLC, Patricia worked as a staff attorney at TakeRoot Justice in New York City, where she supported community-based organizations and coalitions by providing transactional legal services to worker cooperatives and not-for-profits, as well as providing support with policy development, coalition building and advocacy, and community education efforts. Patricia was previously a transactional associate at White & Case LLP in New York City, where she assisted in the management of international project and asset finance deals, private and public offerings, and other corporate transactions. While at White & Case, she was seconded for three months to work with the legal team at Acumen, a nonprofit impact investment fund in NYC. 

 Trained in negotiation, dispute systems design, and mediation through the Harvard Negotiation and Mediation Clinical Program, Patricia has advised clients on these matters and educated aspiring negotiators at Harvard Law School. She has also taught negotiation and leadership to postgraduate students at Bay Path University in Massachusetts and international negotiation to law students at OP Jindal Global University in India. In addition to her work on negotiation, Patricia served as a mediator in Greater Boston’s small claims courts. She currently serves on the board of Negotiation Works, a nonprofit that provides negotiation and conflict resolution skills training for Washington, DC-area individuals who are rebuilding their lives and starting anew after incarceration, homelessness, abuse, and addiction.

 She has a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a B.A. in political science from Yale University, where her research focused on international human rights, conflict and transitional justice.
